ABSTRACT
Abstract Introduction: Communication and information technologies in the health context allow optimizing inter-institutional activities in continuing education. Objectives: To describe the activities performed by of the Special interest group on Occupational Therapy in hospital contexts and palliative care and to discuss the importance of videoconferencing in the continuing education process of Occupational Therapy students and health professionals in this field. Materials and methods: A documentary, retrospective, and descriptive study was conducted. The special interest group was created through the Telemedicine University Network, which is a high-speed network connecting university hospitals and health teaching centers in Brazil. There are 34 operating centers from 15 Brazilian states and one Chilean university registered in the group. Results: 36 videoconferences were made between August 2013 and December 2017, where relevant topics for the practice of occupational therapists in hospital contexts and palliative care were presented. Videoconferencing allows occupational therapists to access updating material on specific topics through interactive communication sessions in virtual spaces regardless of their current location, thus overcoming geographical barriers. Conclusion: Videoconferencing contributes to the updating and spreading of knowledge and professional practices among students and occupational therapists in their professional field.
Resumen Introducción. Las tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación en la salud permiten la optimización de actividades interinstitucionales en educación a distancia. Objetivos. Describir las actividades del Grupo de interés especial en terapia ocupacional en contextos hospitalarios y cuidados paliativos y discutir la importancia de la videoconferencia para la educación continua de los profesionales y estudiantes de terapia ocupacional en este ámbito. Materiales y métodos. Estudio documental y retrospectivo-descriptivo. El grupo de interés especial fue creado a través de la Red Universitaria de Telemedicina, que consiste en una red de alta velocidad que conecta hospitales universitarios y centros de enseñanza de salud en Brasil. El grupo incluye 34 centros operativos registrados en 15 estados brasileños y una universidad de Chile. Resultados. Se realizaron 36 videoconferencias entre agosto de 2013 y diciembre de 2017 con temas relevantes para la práctica de los terapeutas ocupacionales en contextos hospitalarios y cuidados paliativos. La videoconferencia permite la actualización científica de terapeutas ocupacionales en temas específicos de la especialidad a través de comunicaciones interactivas en espacios virtuales sin importar la distancia, superando así barreras geográficas. Conclusión. La videoconferencia contribuye a la actualización y difusión de conocimientos y prácticas profesionales entre estudiantes y terapeutas ocupacionales en el ámbito profesional.
ABSTRACT
A hospitalização infantil configura-se como uma experiência estressante que pode levar à perda significativa da autonomia de uma criança com doença crônica. As crianças hospitalizadas devem ser avaliadas pelo terapeuta ocupacional em relação ao enfrentamento da doença e às repercussões da hospitalização no desempenho de suas habilidades nas diferentes áreas de ocupação. Este artigo visa descrever o processo de construção de um instrumento de avaliação de Terapia Ocupacional em contexto hospitalar pediátrico no Instituto da Criança do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. Foram realizados dois processos de estudo: um levantamento bibliográfico e um levantamento das questões abordadas cotidianamente pelos autores desse trabalho durante a avaliação das crianças internadas. Na pesquisa bibliográfica não foram encontrados instrumentos de avaliação específicos que respondessem às questões relacionadas ao impacto da hospitalização no cotidiano e/ou desenvolvimento infantil. Devido à complexidade de demandas apresentadas pelos pacientes, a ampla faixa etária compreendida e a necessidade de elaborar uma avaliação específica de Terapia Ocupacional, foram criados três instrumentos: Triagem de Terapia Ocupacional e Avaliação de Terapia Ocupacional em Contexto Hospitalar Pediátrico 1 e 2. Children?s hospitalization is a stressful experience that may lead to important loss of autonomy of the child with chronic disease. Hospitalized children should be evaluated by the occupational therapist regarding the coping with the disease and the impact of hospitalization in the performance of their abilities in different areas of occupation. This paper aims to describe the process of development of an occupational therapy evaluation instrument in the pediatric hospital context of the Pediatric Institute from the Clinical Hospital of the Medical College of the University of Sao Paulo (?Instituto da Criança ? HC ? USP?). Two studying processes were carried out: a bibliographic research and a research of the daily issues of the authors during the assessment of the hospitalized children. No specific evaluation instruments related to the impact of hospitalization during daily activities and/or children development were found in the bibliographic research. Due to the complexity of demands presented by patients, the wide age range and the needs to elaborate a specific evaluation of Occupational Therapy, the following three instruments were elaborated: Screening, assessment of Occupational Therapy in pediatric hospital contexts 1 and 2. The instruments are being tested for further analysis
